this was a questions my wife asked me this morning, when i told her for the umpthteenth time that i won't attend the meeting today, not today, not the memorial or grape drinking or any other time.
i asked her why she was worried about that and she had no clear answer, i told her as i will be dead i could give a s**t less.
that any service would be for her and kids and family and non wtbts friends.
That is pretty low for a persons wife to sic their daughter on them to make them feel guilty but with Jdubs, that’s only par for the course.

london (reuters) - older men are better lovers and have fewer impotence problems than their younger counterparts, with the "male menopause" a myth pedaled by drug companies to sell their products, according to a british psychologist.. dr. lorraine boule, from sheffield university in northern england, told the british psychological society conference that men became more skilled sexually as they get older, british newspapers reported on saturday.. "older men sustain erections for longer, are longer coming to orgasm, and satisfy women better.
sexual activity does diminish with age, but the quality should get better," she was quoted as saying by the daily mail.. boule's conclusions were based on a survey of 185 married professional men aged 30 to 60. while 22 percent of men under 46 suffered erectile problems, only 16 percent of those over 46 did.
Yes I agree, Just read the book "Sex after 20 years of marriage, Should your wife know about it?"

ive not been so angry for a long time.. the watchtower article entitled jehovah hates the course of treachery in the may 1st 2002 issue is a masterpiece of bullshit.
there are so many points in it i feel that i should make more than one thread.. in this thread i will deal with the issue of marriage discussed from paragraph 13 onwards.
paragraph 15 warns against marrying an unbeliever and confirms the societys view that only jehovahs witnesses will survive armageddon, so why bother marrying someone who will die soon?.
I blame the break up of my marriage on the Jdubs. My wife would not do anything intimate without the elders approval. It got to the point that it was a turn off to have sex with her, if every move was being critiqued by the elders. All I could think of while having sex, was the face of that shriveled up old fart of an elder. I eventually was forced to go outside of our marriage to fulfill that missed intimacy but I was the one that was made out as the bad guy. That’s why as far as I am concerned WT can kiss my ass.....

quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19…Happily, God’s organisation today abounds with such men who ‘assign honor to their wives.’ They do not abuse their wives physically or verbally… --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also know personally of how my ex brother in law, a "good" elder would physically and verbally abuse his wife and kids.

last week we were in burger king and on the wall behind us was a fantastic blank and white photo of the twin towers of the world trade centre.. this week, the picture has gone although all the other pictures of ny buildings are still up.. why?
surely this is a bigger insult to people than keeping it up there?.
i can understand removing images of the wtc from films where it is part of a terrorist plot but the buildings did exist and were magnificent.. what do you think?
This is only a natural grieving process that everyone is going through. First there was disbelief that this would happen then the anger stage. Right now some are in the denial stage. I agree that taking the picture down does not make that tragedy any less. People do handle grief differently. I am sure that BK had a lot of pressure from some customers to take it down and so in order not to offend for the sake of the sale of a few burgers, they caved into the pressure. Maybe you could say to them that it might be more fitting if they made some sort of a memorial to the victims out of it.

not that anyone would want to help the wts shore up its prophetic speculations, and continue to perpetrate their fanciful but idiotic schemes ... nevertheless ... in an effort to salvage their biblical dreams, and escape their current embarassments and false prophecies, one might see them in the near future pull off something like the following.. you eyes might glaze over ... but this is short:.
the 2nd temple was started by zerubabel in 517 bc and completed and dedicated in 515 bc.
the wts could easily make this 2nd temple a symbolic 'anti-type' representing the renewed, rebuilt condition of 'spiritual israel' the anointed 144,000 ... and then take the 2,520 years spoken of by daniel, from the date of the dedication of the 2nd temple, and voom ... boom ... flash ... zap ... we arrive at 2005 ad for the establishment of the 'completed and dedicated' spiritual anti-type temple in heaven ... to eventually be occupied by the temple class.. add to this, the walls of jerusalem, built to protect the city outside the 2nd temple and its people, were not completed until 445 bc ... this commenced the 70 weeks until the messiah would arrive, according to daniel.
I agree with anewperson, the WT will stay away from making predictions in the near future but they will probably resort to their old tactics sooner or later. You have to remember it was tried and proven successful in the past. Just look at all the influx to the Borg in the early 70's. As far as dates are concerned, you can pull anything out of an old book and attach meaning to it. Look at the prophecies of Nostradamus or the book "Chariots of the Gods" etc. as examples. Every quack is so quick to try and attach and make sense of obsolete information.

At least you were not a hypocrate. What about all those good Dub elders that tell you one thing and do something different. Like an ex brother in law of mine. He was a good elder, put in lots of hours banging on doors and that would tell others how to live their lives but abuse his own family.

i have laboriously sat through so many watchtower studies in my local kingdom hall so i thought i would share my experience of what supposed to be the "main spiritual meal of the week for jw's".
as a formerly active jw i would disect all the scriptures quoted to really discern the meat of the word using a huge variety of commentaries that i have in my library.
my heart rejoiced when i came across all the spiritual gems and i used to look forward to bringing my comments out at the study (this applies to the book study as well).
I find that from one Watchtower to the next the theme is much the same. Be good, listen to the society, don't question anything etc. Not many deep articles on bible prophecies etc. The same with the public talks. What has happened to the talks that go into independent research of the subject material. They are all just all outlined, no brainier talks that appease to the shallow minds of the lowly educated cult mentality.
